Our people make the difference. Each of our translators, editors, interpreters, language coaches and voice-over talents works into his/her mother tongue. This ensures that the final copy, translation or audio recording is idiomatic, truly localised and culturally sensitive. All our colleagues are highly experienced professionals with extensive qualifications and in-depth knowledge in their specialty fields.

Our in-house project managers put special emphasis on serving you and pride themselves on their reliability and commitment to exceeding your expectations. Along with our own translation team we can also call on a freelance team of over 1000 specialist translators who have all been through an extensive quality checking process.

Management

Rachel

Rachel Marie Wike — Director

Born and educated in New Zealand, Rachel Wike has a degree in politics and economics from the University of Auckland and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Auckland University of Technology. Rachel worked as a tabloid newspaper reporter, magazine feature writer and community newspaper editor before moving to the UK.

She worked in the dotcom world, writing investment articles for www.Credit-Suisse.net, later becoming the Finance editor on the Guardian Media Group's www.workthing.com site. She returned to New Zealand in 2002 to take up editorship of a New Zealand magazine.

While concentrating full-time on PAEN since 2003, she has also kept up her skills as an editor, running the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters journal Word for Word.

Andreas

Dr Andreas Ernst — Managing Director

Born in a small Bavarian town in Germany, Andreas studied philosophy and literature at the University of Munich before attending Harvard and Columbia University, USA, for graduate studies. In 1997 he completed his PhD at the University of Potsdam, Berlin, on Ludwig Wittgenstein's philosophy of religion, while taking on freelance translation assignments from 1996 onwards.

Starting in 1998, he worked for Tessloff Publishing (a German children's book publisher), where he became editor for its film books imprint Burgschmiet Publishing in early 2001.

By the end of this year, he moved across the Channel to work for London branding agency Venture3 where he was co-editor of the German language website www.Credit-Suisse.net, a finance portal for affluent investors. After the burst of the Internet bubble, he went happily back to being a full-time freelance translator, mainly in the investment banking sector.

He is a NAATI-accredited translator for the language pair English-German.
